Philanthropy Principles
Organizations receiving Tyco’s support are selected on the basis of their alignment with our strategic focus areas and guiding principles, program performance and capacity to engage Tyco and its employees in a meaningful program. Tyco does not accept unsolicited proposals.
Tyco's Corporate Philanthropy program is guided by these core principles:
- Achieving Impact
There is a difference between supporting a “worthy cause” and achieving results through our contributions and volunteer involvement. Tyco’s emphasis is on making resource investments that lead to measurable, observable changes in people, communities and our environment.
- Business-Community Synergy
Corporate citizenship for its own sake is intrinsically valuable. But Tyco’s philanthropic efforts are responsive to both our communities and our business interests, and effectively utilize our unique resources.
- Capacity Building & Sustainability
Tyco community investments promote the capacity of programs and organizations to effectively manage and sustain positive change. Working toward sustainable solutions requires an integrated view of a community and the various issues and indicators that link a community’s environment, society and economy. A deep understanding of the presenting problem is required to find a strategy toward long-term solutions.
- Employee Preference & Engagement
The interests and preferences of Tyco employees are recognized in the community programs we support. Of particular importance is the active involvement of Tyco employees as volunteers in the organization and its programs. Tyco employees in the U.S. also participate through the Tyco Matching Gifts program.
- Ethics
Tyco’s commitment to integrity, accountability and ethical conduct extends to the community organizations we support. We also expect our partner organizations to embrace and uphold the highest ethical standards.
- Global
Awareness of culture, economic and social issues, communities and environments around the world, is an important element of our corporate citizenship. We recognize our responsibility to be aware of the philanthropic needs in our own communities as well as those of Tyco businesses and suppliers throughout the world.
- Promoting Diversity
Tyco has always been committed to promoting a diverse work force and providing opportunities for everyone to contribute to their fullest potential. We integrate that commitment into our corporate citizenship programs, promoting diversity and inclusion through our grants, sponsorships and volunteerism.
